Elizabeth Garrett

Helen Elizabeth “Beth” Garrett graduated from Putnam City North High School and went on to a distinguished career as a legal scholar and academic leader. After faculty and leadership roles at the University of Chicago and USC, she became the 13th president of Cornell University in 2015—the first woman to hold that position—where she was known for ambitious initiatives to strengthen Cornell’s academics and finances before her death in 2016.
